Chen Laks - Soprano

Bio

Chen Laks is an exciting singer, who possesses an exceptional voice with wide range and beautiful timber. Chen has a variety of musical specializations and holds an artistic approach which turns every song in any language and genre, into a rich and special experience.

 

Born in Geva, Israel.

Her musical education began at young age, studying piano and voice, participating as a soloist and a member in different choral groups which performed in Israel and abroad.

Graduated from the Academy of Music and Dance, Jerusalem
(2006- 2010),where she took part in a number of operas in lead roles and as soloist in chamber and orchestra concerts of Israeli and Jewish music.

 

Chen participated as soloist with the best orchestras in Israel:

The Symphonetta Be'er Sheva in Yiddish folklore, Songs from movies and Latin American music, "Mozart for children" with the Ra'anana Symphonette, "La Boheme" with the Jerusalem Symphony, and contemporary music with the 21st Century Ensemble.

 

Of the performances abroad: Co-Opera co. London - England (2011),

Festival Crescendo, Hungary (2011), Festival of the Aegean, Greece (2012), Young Artists Festival Bayreuth Germany (2014), where she performed Israeli music and opera roles.

 

In the realm of Hebrew music, Chen performed recitals all over Israel and recorded an album of Israeli music with the well-known guitarist Avi Singolda and often collaborate with the Israeli folk group The Gevatron which was founded in Geva, her home.

 

In the area of musical shows, Chen participated with the israeli star singer Dudu Fisher in experts from "Phantom of the Opera", as part of the 65th anniversary of The Gevatron (2013-2014) in the Israeli Opera House, The Jerusalem Theatre, Solomon Pool and other stages in Israel and was invited to the Norwegian Opera of Oslo, Norway to take part in a show of Broadway Musicals (2015) and took part as a guest artist in the international Master Classes for Jewish music in the city of Safed in northern Israel (Aug.2015) and received a scholarship for her Yiddish concert by the international Yiddish Authority in Israel .

From Sept.2016 Chen will be part of the producation "Les Miserables" with Habima International Theater in Tel Aviv.
